Geri Johnson of Darlington passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at home due to heart failure. She was 75.

Mrs. Johnson was an architectural hardware consultant. She started three businesses and was responsible for placing the state seal in front of the Michigan capitol building. She was the president of N.A.W.I.C., the National Association of Women in Construction. She was also a notary for many years and taught school for two years.

She graduated from Michigan Lutheran Seminary in 1963 and Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm Minnesota in 1967.

Born Aug. 8, 1944, at Madison, South Dakota, she was the daughter of the Rev. Robert W. Steffenhagen and Loretta Kreinbring Steffenhagen. She married Peter Lee Evans Johnson on June 7, 1969, and he passed away May 26, 2005. She married Cecil Haworth on Oct. 11, 2012, and he survives.

Surviving family includes: husband, Cecil Haworth of Darlington; two sons, Daryl Robert Johnson (Amanda) of Brillion, Wisconsin, and Shawn Johnson of Crawfordsville; three grandchildren, Nathan Johnson, Noah Johnson and Gabrielle Sarah Alice Johnson; along with several step-children.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 28 at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Ave., Crawfordsville. Private family services will begin at 1 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee, Michigan.
