Local softball player Adison Hawk will continue her athletic and academic career at Johnson University in Tennesssee.
“I have wanted to play college softball as long as I have remembered,” she said. “I think I really decided the summer after fourth-grade when I was watching the women’s college World Series with my dad. Then that fall I started playing travel ball in Lafayette and the rest is history.”
Hawk says her versatility and willingness to play multiple positions will hopefully help her succeed at the next level.
“I’m so grateful for the opportunity,” she said. “It still kind of seems unreal that I’m actually going to be playing college ball next year. Johnson is the perfect school for me to grow in my faith, become an educator, and play the sport that I love.”
Hawk is looking forward to the traveling part of college softball, much like the travel she’s experienced playing travel softball in the last eight years. She also is thankful for her parents and coaches.
“My parents have been the best,” she said of all the work and driving back and forth they’ve put in over the years. “My grandpa was also super supportive, and my success is from my travel ball coaches. Dan Rose, Bill Stovall, and Brian Heath. They have always pushed me and loved me as one of their own. They’ve coached me since I was 10-years old. I wouldn’t be the player I am if it wasn’t for them.”
Hawk is also thankful for her teammates over the years in Ally, Caitlin, and Lani.
At Johnson, Hawk plans to study Bible Theology with a focus in secondary math education.
