Crawfordsville/Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce is searching for its next leader.

Executive director Rick Hernandez submitted his resignation Tuesday after two years at the helm.

“We truly appreciate the efforts and successes Rick has created for the Chamber these past two years and wish him well on the next chapter to his career,” reads an e-mail from the board to the organization’s members.

The board said a search committee would be organized to find Hernandez’s replacement. Administrative assistant Abbi Hedrick will handle the day-to-day activities until a new director is hired.

Hernandez became director in August 2017 as the Chamber geared up for its 100th anniversary and prepared for the move to Fusion 54 from offices in the Chase Bank building.

Before joining the Chamber, he served as the controller at Christi Hubler Chevrolet. Hernandez moved to Montgomery County from St. Louis, where he held positions at a private Christian college.

Hernandez also served as a Montgomery United Fund campaign chair.
