Mounties beat Wildcats on courts

Southmont improved their boy’s tennis record to 3-1 on the season with a 4-1 win over South Vermillion on Thursday.

Adam Cox defeated Brice Gillman 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Trevor McKinney beat Connor Vanlaneed 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, and Connor McVay beat Ayden Hines 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

At No. 1 doubles the duo of Reese Long and Micah Korhorn defeated Blake Boatman and Caiden Santos 7-6 (tiebreak), 6-2, while Luke Tesmer and EJ Brewer fell 7-5, 6-3 to Nick Fossi and Jaxon Mullins at No. 2 doubles.

Southmont remains undefeated in volleyball

The Southmont volleyball teamed remained undefeated with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 28-26) win over Covington on Thursday.

Lexi Nelson had 25 kills, and nine digs. Kaley Remley had 12 kills and 11 digs, while Natalie Manion had 17 digs, and Sydney Veatch had 32 assists.

Athenians netters defeat Patriots

Crawfordsville’s volleyball team came from behind to defeat Seeger 3-1 (19-25, 25-21, 25-18, 28-26) on Thursday night.

Abby Bannon led the Athenians with 12 kills, three aces, and two digs. Laine Schlicher added seven aces, four digs, and 23 assists, while Olivia Reed had 22 digs and a kill.

Macy Bruton had 24 kills, and eight digs, while Shea Williamson had 12 digs, seven assists, and two kills. 

Crawfordsville is now 4-3 on the season, and  will host their invite on Saturday before hosting Lebanon and Attica next week.

South golfers keep winning

The Southmont girl’s golf team picked up a pair of wins on Thursday over Cascade (206) and Greencastle (221) with a round of 174 at Deer Creek Golf Course in Clayton.

Erin Williams was the medalist with a 40, while Logan Berrisford shot a 42, and Bailey Thompson a 44. Lexi Rusk fired a 48, Carson White a 49, and Macie Shirk a 49. Taylor Grino fired a 61, and Mady Rodgers a 67.

Mounties defeat Cougars in soccer

Southmont’s girls soccer team picked up their first win over the season 2-0 over North Putnam on Thursday behind a pair of Lexie Odum goals.

Athenians golf splits 3-way meet

Crawfordsville’s girls golf team shot a 213 and split a three-way meet with Seeger (204), and Attica (261) on Thursday.

Bailey Mittal led the way with a 49, while Georgia Kincaid fired a 49 as well. Evie Redding shot a 53, Gwen Redding a 65, and Sadie Walker and McKenzie Wilson each fired a 71.

Chargers fall on pitch

North Montgomery’s girls soccer team dropped a 5-2 match to Greencastle on Thursday.

Sidney Campbell and Teegan Bacon scored the goals, while Lydia Dugard picked up an assist.

Charger volleyball falls

The North Montgomery volleyball team dropped a Sagamore Conference match 3-0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-13) on Thursday.

Mustang volleyball falls

The Fountain Central volleyball team dropped a match at South Newton on Thursday 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-12).
