Local non-profit group Humans United for Equality invites the community to the Fourth annual Celebration of Unity.

This free event will be 4-8 p.m. April 23 at Pike Place in downtown Crawfordsville.

Organizers said this family-friendly event is a great opportunity for community members to learn more about one another and to celebrate how diverse Montgomery County is. There will be many children’s activities, such as face painting, balloon animals, multicultural games, crafts, a bounce house and a rock wall. A variety of local organizations will be present, including the Youth Service Bureau, Athens Arts, the Carnegie Museum and the Historical Society at Lane Place, along with about a dozen other booths.

All games, crafts, entertainment and activities will be free of charge. Complimentary grilled hot dogs will be provided by Hoosier Heartland State Bank.

Enjoy performances by the mariachi band Zelaya, the McGovern Irish Dancers of Lafayette and the Dance By Deborah performance dance troupe.

Food will also be available for purchase from Norvell’s, Aki Les Voy, 1832 Brew and Hoosier Ice Queen.

In the event of inclement weather, the celebration will be held indoors at the Montgomery County 4-H building.

This event has been made possible by HUE members and community volunteers, as well as the following sponsors: City of Crawfordsville, Hoosier Heartland State Bank, Journal Review, Crawfordsville Chamber of Commerce, Malcolm X Institute of Black Studies at Wabash College, Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, Joshi Pediatrics, Wabash College Athletics, St. John’s Episcopal Church, Friends of Sugar Creek, First Christian Church, Christ Lutheran Church and Second Baptist Church.
