INDIANAPOLIS — Food vendors at the Indiana State Fair had the opportunity Thursday to highlight their offerings during media day. Media members were able to sample new items available at this year’s fair.
Fairgoers will find a variety of Spam dishes such as a Junkyard Spam Dog with all the toppings. Something new served at the Pork Producers tent will be a large helping of pork barbecue served on top of freshly baked cornbread.
A mixture of sweet and salty can be found on the new Bacon Jalapeno HoneyBun Burger. Instead of a regular bun, Little Debby Honey Buns serve as the bookends on this unique sandwich.
Charlie’s Mexican Sweet Corn Pizza will be available as a new item with tomato bits and a slice of lime included.
Loaded Bourbon Chicken Fries also can be found. The dish consists of fries topped with bourbon glazed chicken garnished with cilantro and sour cream.
New sweet items this year include Key Lime Pie in Paradise served in a cup and a Cookie Butter Biscoff Funnel Cake.
One popular sweet treat with media members was a Hot Cheeto Fried Oreo. The deep fried item has crushed Flaming Hot Cheetos embedded in the batter and topped with sweet cream.
Beer flavored soft serve ice cream proved to be a popular item crafted by Black Dog Brewery. Next to the ice cream was a new Sun King Brewery beverage labeled Corn Dog Beer.
Fairgoers also will find a Grand Slam Mary, which is a Bloody Mary topped with a mini-burger, celery and a pickle and soft pretzel.
Of course, fairgoers can also enjoy the old favorites such as sweet corn, corn dogs, milkshakes and pineapple whips plus the usual offerings from the pork, beef and poultry producer tents.
