Ivan Dean Brewer of rural Crawfordsville passed away Friday morning, July 30, 2021, at home. He was 87.
Mr. Brewer served his country in the Navy as a Petty Officer during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Haw Creek Church of Christ and American Legion. He was a quality control manager at RR Donnelley, working there 33 years, after which he spent nine years as vice president of Moore Langen. He raised cattle, collected model tractors and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities.
Born May 8, 1934, at Stanford, Kentucky, he was the son of George W. Brewer and Ruby E. Blackaby Brewer. He graduated from Waveland High School in 1954. On Sept. 20, 1957, he married the former Carolyn Shelton in Crawfordsville. She survives.
Surviving family includes: wife Carolyn Brewer of Crawfordsville; daughter Deann Howard (Jim) of Crawfordsville; son Bob Brewer of Lafayette; daughter Sherri King (Brian) of Crawfordsville; son Tim Brewer (Ashley) of Carmel; seven grandchildren, Nathan Howard, Matt Howard, Melody Luppino (Josh), Kyle Brewer, Ashten King, Kendra Brewer and Cam King; five brothers, Lawrence Brewer, Maurice Brewer, Don Brewer, Fred Brewer and Dale Brewer; and sister Joyce Brewer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3 at Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, led by Wes Howard. Burial will follow at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post 72 honor guard.
