Richard Douglas “Doug” Pugh, 72, of Madison and formerly of Veedersburg, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2024, in Norton Hospital, Louisville, Ky.
Doug was born Aug. 26, 1951, at Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the son of Russell B. and Sue (Kirk) Pugh; his mother married Walter C. Butler when Doug was 3 years old and stepped up to fill the father role for the rest of his life. Doug married Kathy Jo Craig Feb. 12, 1972.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Carla Sue Arth.
Surviving family include; wife Kathy Jo Pugh, Madison; son Richard Troy Pugh, Lafayette; brother Brooks (Sandy) Pugh, Danville, Illinois; a step-brother Danny (Jan) Butler, San Antonio, Texas; and two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Orion Pugh.
Doug graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1969. He was employed at C&D Technologies in Attica for 46 years prior to his retirement in 2013. Some of his favorite activities included spending time with his grandchildren, watching Indiana University and University of Alabama sports, visiting wineries everywhere he traveled, and playing games, like Yahtzee, with family.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1 at Kingman Fraternal Cemetery, 450 W. C.R. 1000S, Kingman, with Pastor Garland Pannell officiating.
