James Kevin Libka passed away at his home in Tomball, Texas, on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, after a short illness.
He was born July 30, 1950, at Crawfordsville, to James and Betty (Weliver) Libka. Jim began his working career at his parent’s grocery store, Libka’s Stop and Shop, as just a boy. He graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1968 and worked many years at Crawford Industries in Crawfordsville before relocating to Baton Rouge, Louisiana and finally Houston, Texas. He hauled freight for first Overnite Freight and then UPS for 33 years before retiring in 2012.
Jim met and married his wife Audra in Houston in 1988.
He is survived by his wife, Audra of Houston, Texas; step-daughter Lisa Dail, Austin, Texas; sisters, Pam (Mel) Washburn, Chicago, Johana Vietry, Newport, Rhode Island, Martha (Eric) Sutherlin, Crawfordsville, Ginny (Bill) Elhoff, Frisco, North Carolina, and Sara (Joe) Frey, Crawfordsville; brothers, Charles (Lisa) Libka and Scott (Paula) Libka, both of Crawfordsville; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss him.
Jim was an avid hunter, fisherman, 500 fan and mushroom hunter in his day. Please take some time to remember Jim and think some pleasant thoughts or memories of him.
A funeral service will be conducted Dec. 28 at Spring Creek Church of Christ, 1487 Brown Road, Tomball, TX 77377. Visitation and internment will be 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 29 at Delhi Baptist Church, 6172 TX-304, Rosanky, TX 78953. A local memorial service will be held at a future date.
