Runners, walkers, families, co-workers, and anyone who simply wants a good reason to get moving are invited to join the Boys & Girls Club of Montgomery County for the annual Run for the Club, presented by C & F Fabricating, on Sept. 12.

Don’t let the word “run” scare you, walking is absolutely encouraged.

The 5K Run/Walk will start and finish at Wabash Presbyterian Church, 307 S. Washington St. Check-in will take place from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., with the 5K beginning at 9 a.m.

Run for the Club is designed to bring the community together for a fun morning while supporting the kids and teens who count on the Boys & Girls Club throughout the year.

“Whether you’re chasing a personal best, walking with friends, bringing the whole family, or putting together a team from work, we want everyone to feel welcome,” said Gina Haile, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Montgomery County. “This event is really about our community showing up for our kids and having some fun together while we do it.”

Participants can register as an individual for $30, a family for $80, or a corporate team for $125. Individual registration increases to $35 on race day.

No special running experience is required. Competitive runners are welcome, but so are casual joggers, walkers, families, first-time 5K participants, and those who may be more interested in the “supporting Club kids” part than the “running 3.1 miles” part.

Proceeds from event will support the club and its work to provide local youth with a safe place to belong, caring adults in their corner, and opportunities to learn, grow, explore, and succeed.

Registration is now open. Participants can register using the QR code, going directly to active.com or call the Boys & Girls Club at 765-362-8912.
