Larry Dean Hudson, 83, of Crawfordsville passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Feb. 14, 1938, at Crawfordsville, to the late Kenneth and Violet (McCracken) Hudson.
Larry graduated from Waynetown High School in 1956 and was class president. Larry married the love of his life, Peggy Stepp, on June 7, 1958, at Noblesville. Throughout the years he worked at California Pellet Mill, farmed with his father and owned Hudson Grocery in Waynetown for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, coffee with his friends, feeding his birds, was a huge IU fan and loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Waynetown Merchants Association, Waynetown Baptist Church, a former member of the Waynetown Christian Church where he was an elder, member of the Hillsboro Masonic Lodge and Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Peggy; three children, Michelle Hudson, Kim (Rick) Carter and Chris (Lynn) Hudson; two sisters, Sheila Hudson and Janice (Dean) Emmert; five grandchildren, Marissa Carter, Brooke (Adam) Wadsworth, Tanner Hudson, Alli Hudson and Seager Hudson (fiancé Rachel Tucker); and four great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Visitation will be at Sanders Shoemaker Funeral Care, 202 Bratton Road, Waynetown, on 3-7 p.m. Thursday, March 18. Visitation also will from 11 a.m. Friday, March 19 at the funeral home until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Ron Raffignone officiating. Cremation will follow the service per his wishes. Honorary pallbearers would have been, Chris Hudson, Rick Carter, Tanner Hudson, Seager Hudson, Adam Wadsworth and Mike Swank.
