Lebanon routs Chargers

LEBANON — Lebanon routed North Montgomery 58-25 in girls basketball Friday. The Chargers were soundly defeated by the Tigers in every aspect of the game.

Charger Coach Ryan Nuppnau said the game showcased his team’s weakness – literally.

“We just have to get stronger and we need girls to take weight training seriously,” Nuppnau said. “We just cannot compete in a physical game like we had tonight.”

Nuppnau pointed to the 32 turnovers his team committed and being out-rebounded 35-26.

Lebanon (12-8, 4-2) started the game with a 19-5 lead after one quarter. The Chargers were held scoreless for until the 2:15 mark of the second period. North Montgomery (9-12, 2-4) trailed at the half 32-9.

Madi Welch led North Montgomery in scoring with 10 points. Lydia Dugard pulled down nine rebounds in the losing effort.

“Madi Welch started looking to score by taking the ball to the basket,” Nuppnau said. “Lydia Dugard played hard and battle for us on the boards. We just need all of our team to be better.”

The Chargers conclude the regular season Friday at home against Western Boone in a boy/girl doubleheader.
