Letter: Forgiving student loans is a mistake

I believe it would be a mistake to forgive student tuition loans. When you borrow money you have an obligation to repay the lender. It’s important that students understand that. If you take an auto loan or a mortgage loan, you are the one obligated to repay the loan.

The government, i.e. the taxpayers, are not responsible for student loans. Under some exceptional situations it may make sense to extend the payback period. Eliminating that tuition debt would be a poor life lesson for students.
