County elections are coming up soon. While every office is important, as a member of the county council I want to bring your attention to the election for county auditor. Our current auditor, Jennifer Andel, has done a fantastic job over the last eight years. However, due to the state limitation of two terms, she is ineligible to run in the 2022 election.
I am endorsing Mindy Byers for our next county auditor.
The auditor has many duties. The auditor is the fiscal officer for the county, distributing more than $100 million. The auditor is also the secretary for the council and brings knowledge of accounts, funds, state regulations, etc. to the council members and many other county government agencies.
What I want our citizens to realize is that we are going to have four new members of council next year. Mindy’s seven and a half years of experience as deputy, then chief deputy auditor will be crucial to our new council members and the council as a whole. Mindy already knows the accounts and their relationships to each other and will be able to explain them to the new council members. Mindy has proven her ability to do the job. She is responsible, dependable and dedicated to the office.
As a current and retiring county councilman I highly recommend Mindy Byers for Montgomery County Auditor.
