Athenians 2-1 at Greenwood Invite
The Crawfordsville volleyball team went 2-1 at the Greenwood Invite on Saturday.
The Athenians beat Jennings County 22-5, 25-20, 15-6 and Monrovia 25-23, 25-20 and lost to Greenwood 30-28, 25-23.
Laine Schlicher had 57 assists, seven digs and five aces on the day, while Macy Bruton had 40 kills and 30 digs, and Hallie Gayler had 11 kills and four blocks. Halle Elliott had nine digs and two aces, Liddy McCarty three kills and Shea Williamson seven kills and 10 digs. Olivia Reed had 26 digs and Alyx Bannon four kills and five blocks.
Allen wins Cascade Invite
Southmont junior Faith Allen won the Cascade Cross Country Invite on Saturday with a time of 20:23.
In the boys’ race, Mason Cass led the Mounties with a 12th-place finish in 18:28. Hunter Alesi was 23rd in 19:45, Brett Keller 36th in 20:32, Skyler Wood 41st in 20:47, and Clay Allen 52nd in 21:32.
On the girls’ side, the Mounties finished fourth as a team with 118 points. Heaven Smith placed 19th in 24:23, while Rachel Rhoads was 24th in 25:01, Kylee Reeves 49th in 27:59 and Tiffany Dittmer 53rd in 28:44.
North tennis falls 3-2
The North Montgomery boys’ tennis team fell to Sagamore Conference foe Danville 3-2 on Saturday.
Nate McCoy and Brookes Walters won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles over Jaden Roberts and Chase Taylor, while Ethan Garrett and Owen Utterback beat Jack Pham and Sam Gibbons 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Hayden Turner fell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles to Andrew Schrier, while Will McKinniss lost 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 to Garrett Thomas at No. 2 singles and Beckett Martin fell 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3 singles to Peyton Bickel.
Mustangs 3rd at Bi-County
The Fountain Central boys’ tennis team scored eight points for a third-place finish at the Bi-County on Saturday. Covington won the event with 15 points.
Skyler Hoagland (No. 1 singles), Gabe McCollum (No. 2 singles), Noah Armstrong (No. 3 singles), Carter Merryman and Brayden Prickett (No. 1 doubles), and Wes Jackson and Koby Wolf (No. 2 doubles), all went 1-1 on the day.
Parks earns all WRC honors
Fountain Central’s Cassadi Parks fired a 109 to earn first-team all Wabash River Conference honors on Saturday as the Mustangs finished fourth as a team.
Nola Walls fired a 113, Aubrey Hicks a 119, Hannah Parks a 129, and Emily Keeling a 130.
