Athenians sweep Patriots
The Crawfordsville boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving teams swept Seeger on Thursday. The boys won 146-27, while the girls were victorious 108.5-68.5.
On the girls side the foursome of Abby Bannon, Halle Smith, Jaiden Barber, and Alyx Bannon swam to a win in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:56.08, while Barber, Smith, Alyx Bannon, and Cathleen McGrady won the 400 freestyle relay in 4:32.07.
Individual winners included Smith in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:20.59, and the 100 butterfly in 1:19.28, while Abby Bannon won the 200 individual medley in 2:45.51. Abby Bannon also won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:22.29. Alyx Bannon won the 50 freestyle in 26.89 seconds, and the 100 freestyle in 1:00.42. McGrady took home the win in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:40.79, while Frannie Fuller won the 100 backstroke in 1:13.86. Trinity Deck won the diving portion with a mark of 181.65.
On the boys side, the Athenian relay team of Evan Chaney, Marshall Horton, Thristan Callejas, and Jack Pendleton won the 200 medley relay in 1:49.47, while Ben Brown, Cameron Nordenbrock, Aidan Mason, and Sam Decker won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:45.00. Airton Schu, Hunter Conrad, Horton, and Pendleton teamed up for a win in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:54.34.
Individual winners included Mason in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:11.08, Pendleton with a swim of 2:12.37 to win the 200 individual medley, and Callejas, who won the 50 freestyle in 24.39 seconds. Horton won the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:05.57, while Pendleton won the 100 freestyle in 53.32 seconds. Mason also won the 500 freestyle in 6:08.62, while Chaney won the 100 backstroke in 1:01.49, and Horton won the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.34. Eli Reeves won the diving portion with a mark of 165.4.
Mounties split with Red Ramblers
The Southmont boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving teams split with Attica on Thursday evening.
The Mounties defeated the Red Ramblers 79-23, and Covington 85-5 on the girls side, while Attica defeated Southmont 47-45 on the boys side.
On the girls side, the team of Megan Scheidler, Emma Tyler, Aubrey Jones, and Sami Mooday won the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:13.33. Pedro, Tyler, Jane Scheidler, and Emily Smith won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:54.71, while Jane and Megan Scheidler, Pedro, and Bailey Barker won the 400 freestyle relay in 4:19.91.
Individual winners included Jane Scheidler in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:12.83, while Megan Scheidler won the 200 individual medley in 2:36.15. Pedro won the 50 freestyle with a time of 28.69 seconds, while Tyler won the 100 butterfly in 1:07.72. Jane Scheidler also won the 100 freestyle with a time of 58.3 seconds, while Megan Scheidler won the 500 freestyle in 5:54.64. Jones won the 100 backstroke in 1:13.53, while Tyler won the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.82. Jordan Stanley won the diving portion with a mark of 184.45.
On the boys side, individual winners included Trent Jones in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:28.32, while Gavin Waddell won the 200 freestyle in 2:12.93, and John Zimmerman won the 50 freestyle in 25.28 seconds. Jones also won the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:01.29, while Zimmerman swam to a win in the 100 freestyle with a time of 56.82 seconds. Waddell also won the 500 freestyle in 5:54.84.
Athenians pick up wrestling win
The Crawfordsville wrestling team picked up its first win of the season with a 37-26 defeat of Faith Christian on Thursday.
At 106 pounds, Keegan Olsman picked up a 11-10 overtime win. Ethan Conkright won by fall at 120, while Alex Brown picked up a pin at 126. Richard Pan won 8-1 at 138, while Clayton Owens won 15-4 at 145. Ethan Patton won 9-5 at 182. The Athenians picked up points by forfeit at 220 and 285. Crawfordsville is now 1-1 on the season and wrestles on Saturday at Western Boone.
