Mounties fall to Bruins

The Southmont boys’ soccer team dropped a Sagamore Conference contest to Tri-West 5-1 on Thursday.

Beckett Jett scored the lone goal for the Mounties.

Mustangs defeats Red Ramblers

The Fountain Central boys’ tennis team beat Attica 4-1 on Thursday night.

Carson Eberly picked up a win at No. 1 singles over Caiden Jeffries 6-0, 6-0, while Cody Linville beat Noah Blankenship 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot. Sawyer Keeling won at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0 over Gage Greenson.

The No. 1 doubles team of Jacob Keeling and CJ Yager beat Reed Goodwin and Dusty Marlatt 6-2, 6-1, while Brayden Prickett and Koby Wolf fell at No. 2 doubles to Travis Alenduff and Antonio Jerkins 7-5, 6-3.

Athenians down Eagles

The Crawfordsville boys’ tennis team picked up a 3-2 win over South Putnam on Thursday night, winning at all three singles’ positions.

Austin Motz defeated Trey Blades 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, while Thatcher Gambrel beat Nate Clearwater 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. James Murphy sealed the win for the Athenians with a 6-7 (8-10), 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles over Brady Robinson.

“It was a great team win,” Crawfordsville coach Craig Brainard said. “Austin and Thatcher have been playing really well and James stepped up to seal the deal, in a three-set battle. I’m proud of the way the whole team played tonight, and credit goes to South Putnam as well. That was one of our best competitions. I think both teams got better.”

The duo of Zack Fichter and Ziair Morgan fell to Ethan Wallace and Marcus Robinson 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, while James Novak and Thomas Bowling lost to Eli Smith and Trystan and Smithers 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Chargers fall to Stars

The North Montgomery girls’ golf team dropped a match 167-208 against Western Boone at Cool Lake on Thursday to end the regular season.

Rylie Koopman led the Chargers with a personal best 50, while Grace Littell fired a 51. Maggie Yeager shot a 52, Shayna Ratcliff and Ella Stultz both 55s and Grace Shrader a 57. Morgan Swick shot a 58.

Chargers fall to Hot Dogs

The North Montgomery girls’ soccer team fell to Sagamore Conference foe Frankfort 4-1 on Thursday night.

Teegan Bacon scored the lone goal for the Chargers, assisted by Sidney Campbell.

“We lost the possession game tonight and allowed Frankfort to control the game,” Chargers’ coach Julie Hodges said. “They got two goals late to put it away, and we had about six high quality shots that just missed.”

Mustangs swept by Trojans

The Fountain Central volleyball team dropped a Wabash River Conference match to Covington 3-0 (25-21, 25-8, 25-13) on Thursday night.

Mounties sweep Red Ramblers

The Southmont volleyball team swept Attica (25-14, 25-17, 25-10) on Thursday night.

Sidney Veatch led the Mounties with 10 kill and eight assists. Natalie Manion had 13 digs, while Kaley Remley had eight aces and six kills and Chelsea Veatch had 10 assists and nine digs.
