LOCAL SPORTS: Mounties stay perfect on mat, Athenians and Chargers win in pool

Mounties stay perfect on mat

The Southmont wrestling team moved to 4-0 on Tuesday with a 66-17 win over North Putnam on Tuesday.

At 120 pounds Marlin Williams won by fall over Corie Scancombe, while Gerald Hutson pinned Zachary Parker at 132 and Dillan Lauy pinned Douglas O’Hair at 138.

Justin Emerson won by fall at 145 over Jacob Land, while Evan Francis pinned Braden Glaze at 160. Riley Woodall won by fall at 182 over Cameron Hankins, while Wyatt Woodall pinned Alex Sefton at 195 and Zayden Dunn pinned Alex Hoke at 220.

Athenians split with Tiger Sharks

The Crawfordsville swimming and diving teams split with Sagamore Conference foe Lebanon on Tuesday night. The boys’ won 89-87, while the girls’ fell 135-33.

Evan Chaney, Marshall Horton, Thristam Callejas, and Jack Pendleton teamed up to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:48.06, while Pendleton, Callejas, Horton, and Whitman Horton won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:35.38.

Callejas picked up individual wins in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.05 and the 100 butterfly in 57.16 seconds. Pendleton won the 50 freestyle in 23.45 seconds and Marshall Horton took the 100 freestyle in 51.13 seconds. Whitman Horton won the 500 freestyle in 5:21.58, while Chaney won the 100 backstroke in 1:02.25. Marshall Horton also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.63. 

On the girls’ side Alyx Bannon won the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.62 and the 100 freestyle in 56.68 seconds. 

Chargers down Bison

The North Montgomery girls’ swimming and diving team defeated Benton Central 104-66.

Kelsey Anderson won the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke, while Sidney Campbell won the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly, while Maggie Michael won the 50 and 500 freestyle. Michael, Campbell, Maddie Mershon and Annabel Anderson won the 200 medley relay, while Kelsey Anderson, Emily Schaub, Mershon, and Annabel Anderson won the 200 freestyle relay and Michael, Rachel Fedor, Kelsey Anderson, and Campbell won the 400 freestyle relay.
