The League of Women Voters encourages the hundreds of young citizens now eligible to vote to register and vote in the upcoming June 2 Primary Election, which has been moved up from the normal May election date due to COVID-19 concerns. To be eligible to vote in the Primary, you need to be 18 by the time of the General Election, Nov. 3.
For the hundreds of Montgomery County high school seniors and others who will be 18 by Nov. 3, it is easy to register online at www.Indiana.voter.com. You will need to provide your Indiana driver’s license number and/or latest social security number. You will then receive a postcard from the Indiana Voter Registration Office confirming your registration.
If you receive your registration by May 4, contact the Montgomery County Clerk Karyn Douglas (karyn.douglas@montgomerycouinty.in.gov) to receive an application for an absentee ballot for the Primary Election now scheduled for June 2. Deadline to vote by absentee is May 21. If you have any questions, you may contact Alexa Richardson, Montgomery County Elections Clerk 765-364-6437. Voting is most fundamental responsibility of American citizens. 2020 has been an extremely challenging year with the closing of public schools and facilities in March-June. Normally, many students who would have normally been encouraged to register at school may have missed this opportunity. Family members and friends are urged to encourage these young citizens to register and vote.
