The Maple Grove Extension Homemakers met Oct. 17 at the country home of Betty Jeffers.

The meeting was called to order by president Sandy Lightle. Pledges were lead by Judy McBride. Seven members answered roll call to: What is your favorite fall  festival? The Covered Bridge Festival in Parke County was the winner. Get well cards were signed for Claudine Whalen and Rita Kirkpatrick.

McBride reported that Carol Vice had purchased four really neat sweatshirts to give to mental health for Christmas. This is for our November service project. The December service project will be to give food certificates to needy families. Everyone was in favor of doing this.

Holiday Expo is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the 4-H building. Bring food items for bake sale 5-7 p.m. Friday.

Our November meeting was discussed and it will be at Lightle’s on Nov. 21. Carol Crowder will furnish dessert. The Dec. 19 meeting will be at noon at New Richmond Community Building.

McBride closed the meeting with devotions on “The Comeback.” The story of the 2003 football game that was called the Monday night miracle where Peyton Manning scored 21 points in four minutes tying the game and sending it to overtime. They won by a field goal. Your life is like a miracle at times with comebacks that make it worthwhile.

We than had our annual white elephant money raising sale. Many wonderful white elephants were sold to make our treasury healthy again.

Jeffers served delicious apple pie with wonderful fellowship being enjoyed by the members.

The next meeting will be Nov. 21 at Lightle’s home.
