Mary Jo Jennings Dazey, 89, of Wingate passed away at 3:26 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2021, in the emergency room of Franciscan Health Crawfordsville.

She was born Oct. 10, 1931, at Jamestown, daughter of the late Ted and Phelma Keyes Jennings. She married Robert Dazey on Dec. 24, 1949, in her parent’s home in Wingate. He preceded her in death Jan. 15, 2001.

Mary Jo was a 1949 graduate of Wingate High School. She worked with her husband operating Dazey Trucking and Garage in Wingate, where she was the bookkeeper. She was a member of the New Hope Chapel in Wingate. Mary Jo was an avid Purdue sports fan. She enjoyed going out on Saturday evenings having dinner with her sister-in-law Patricia Bane. One of her highlights was spending time at her daughter and son-in-law’s home with her family, especially her great-granddaughters, Laken, Laramie Jo, Oaklie and Klansie Suitors.

Though her health had slowed her down the past few years, she was sharp witted, had a great smile and enjoyed being with people.

Surviving are son Dan Dazey of Lafayette; daughter Diana (Tim) Suitors of Hillsboro; five grandsons, Brandon (Cheyenne) Suitors, Clint Suitors, Charley Dazey, Chad (Tiffany) Dazey and Chris Dazey; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Patricia Bane.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister.

Visitation hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, March 8, with funeral services beginning at 1 p.m., with Pastor Duane Mycroft officiating, all at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Graveside services will follow in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
