Mavis L. Mitchell, 102, passed away peacefully at CrownPointe assisted living in Lebanon, Indiana, on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022.
She was born May 1, 1919, at Crawfordsville, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Hattie (Farrow) Lough.
She was a 1937 graduate of Darlington High School and attended two years of beauty college.
In April of 1942, she was married to Russell Mitchell. He passed away Jan. 17, 2005. Together, they shared 62 loving years together.
Mavis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a member of Jamestown Christian Church and later in life attended Harvestime Fellowship Church. Mavis enjoyed reading and listening to audio books.
Survivors include: son Ricky J. (Diana) Mitchell of Crawfordsville; two grandchildren, Alishia K. Watts of Thorntown and Kyle B. Mitchell of Phoenix, Arizona; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mavis was preceded in death by sisters, Juanita Lough, Julia Anglin and Beverly Sallee.
Visitation is planned 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18 at Harvestime Fellowship Church, 7925 W. C.R. 700S, Jamestown, IN 46147.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19 at the church in Jamestown. Interment will follow services at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Jamestown.
Porter and Hunt Funeral Home & Crematory in Jamestown has been entrusted with her arrangements.
