Summer is here and it’s time to enjoy the beauty that comes with it. One of the highlights is the incredible flowers throughout downtown Crawfordsville, welcoming visitors from all over. You have probably noticed the concrete planters that adorn each corner of downtown — all meticulously planted and cared for by members of the Flower Lovers Garden Club. Over the years, many have broken, been damaged, or are on the verge of becoming unusable.
The club partnered with Crawfordsville Main Street to include replacement planters in a recent grant request to Montgomery County Community Foundation. This was a perfect example of organizations working together “for the good of the cause,” and MCCF was happy to fund the project as part of Main Street’s $40,010 grant award.
CMS will facilitate the grant funding and purchase of 23 new planters, then the Flower Lovers Garden Club will own the planters and lead their placement, planting, maintenance, and ongoing care. MCCF extends a big thank you to the volunteers who work so hard throughout the year to make our historic downtown a welcoming place for locals and visitors alike.
