MCHS announces 6 new virus cases

The Montgomery County Health Department announced Friday six additional confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total lab-confirmed cases to 283 since the first case was recorded in March.

Contact investigations by the Indiana State Department of Health is underway in connection with the new cases.

Demographics related to cases are available on the Indiana State Department of Health’s online dashboard at www.in.gov/coronavirus. Local demographics can by found by clicking on Montgomery County on the state map.

In addition to the confirmed positive cases, the map also shows Montgomery County has had 19 virus-related deaths since reportign began and that 2,591 tests have been administered.

Furthermore, the latest data shows no change in cases or deaths over the last week as it pertains to long-term care facilities in the county. Ben Hur has had 63 residents test positive for COVID-19, resulting in 18 of the county’s 19 deaths. No other long-term care facilities in the county have reported any virus cases or virus-related deaths. The statistics to-date are compiled by the MCHD and will be updated periodically. This information is made available for lab-confirmed cases as of Friday. No further information regarding residents will be released due to privacy laws.
