The Mary Bishop Memorial Gallery at the Crawfordsville District Public Library invites the community to view the Memorial Exhibition of Mark A. Craig.

His illustrations are available for public viewing through mid-October during CDPL’s normal hours of operation. A limited amount of artworks will be for sale during the exhibition through the circulation department.

Craig was a well-known Crawfordsville resident who received national recognition for his artistic talents. His love for art began as a child and after being awarded a space in an exhibit at the University of Illinois’ gallery he knew he wanted to be an artist. His grandfather bought him a drawing table to encourage him to pursue his passion for becoming a professional. Craig studied the arts at Ivy Tech Community College-Lafayette and Central Missouri State University.

In 2012, Craig decided to start the next chapter of his life with his fiancé Deana in Washington State. He planned to attend Green Forks Community College to pursue his dream of becoming a professional illustrator. Sadly, his life was cut short in an automobile accident in Montana on Oct. 1 that year. Early on, Craig made a heroic decision to be a registered organ donor. His gift of life continues to make a difference in 65 people’s lives worldwide.

His parents, Roger and Dellie Craig, CDPL’s archivist, invite the community to take a moment to celebrate their son’s passion for the arts and to encourage young people to creatively express their thoughts and ideas. They would also like to thank SightLife, LifeNet Health Northwest, CDPL, MBM Gallery, and all the individuals who have kept their son’s memory alive over the past 10 years.
