Montgomery County Scout Troops

Posted

Troop 247 (girls) and Troop 365 (boys), are chartered by First Christian Church (ages 11-17 years old). We have awarded our first Eagle Scout since Troop 365 formed in 2019.

Marshall Little (picture attached) with Troop 365. Marshall has been in scouting since he was in first grade and earned his Arrow of Light at the cub scout level with Pack 909.

He followed his older brothers, Preston and Gabriel on the same path to Eagle. We are so proud to have him as part of our troop and he is doing great things on leading the patrol.

I would like to recognize all of our youth members.

Service Projects:

Our units helped the Masonic Lodge Cornerstone and Event Center on putting up the Christmas decorations from the past holidays up on the top floor of their building.

The Troops collected gloves/hats/mittens for Men, Women and Children in December.  We had a drop box at two churches in town.  First Christian Church and at First Baptist Church.  We would like to expand this next year to encompass other churches in our community.  What we have collected have been delivered to the Youth Service Bureau, Pam’s Promise and Trinity Mission house for Men.

Needs for the units:

We are needing new or gently used scout equipment for the Scouts to purchase with their “Scout Bucks” at our annual planning lock-in that is planned for February. Scout Bucks are earned by doing scout things like rank advancement, service, coming prepared and camping. If you can donate, email 247.365fundraising@gmail.com, so that we can make arrangements to pick up or meet for any donations.

Scout trailer needed. Ours is fine for one troop, but with the size of our troops, we are outgrowing what we have. If you know of someone that has an enclosed trailer that they are looking at selling, please let us know.

January Activity:

Our Scouts will be participating in the Winter Camporee on Jan. 28 at Camp Krietenstein in Brazil. This is a great time for the scouts to use their skills that they are learning.

Next meetings are at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 17, 24 and 31 at First Christian Church.
