Skylar Stevenson

Skylar Stevenson is the owner of Stevenson’s Ace Hardware, Stevenson Mattress Co. and now Superior Moving and Storage. He was raised in Crawfordsville until he moved to Indianapolis to pursue other business adventures. He said Montgomery County will always be home and a community where he is grateful to operate his businesses.

In his spare time, he can be found on the lake with his “lake family,” relaxing, traveling to St. Pete or catching up at work.

Stevenson said he has been blessed with great parents, Jack and Pam Stevenson, three sisters and brothers-in-law, nine nieces and
nephews, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his dog, Shilah, who all support him and his “crazy ideas,” including being a part of Dancing with the Montgomery County Stars.

The song that always makes him get up and dance or sing along is “Don’t Stop Believing,” although anything that has a good beat or is fun.

His reaction when asked to be a Star was how did he have the time to add something else to his schedule? Then, he changed his attitude and focused on the cause. Stevenson decided to participate in the YSB fundraiser because “I would say Karen Branch, (the executive director). I have been on the Chamber board of directors with Karen and learned about the YSB over the last serval years. This past Christmas season, Karen gave me a tour of the facility on Pike Street, and I was amazed at all the different programs offered to the community youth. I knew at the end that the YSB was truly a special place, and one of the many reasons why Montgomery County would be a better place for the next generation was because of the programs offered and the caring atmosphere created by the staff. It also aligns with one of our core values at Stevenson’s and how we are committed to helping make our community a better place.”

He believes the public should attend this event and support him and his partner, Stefanie Deaton, because “It’s good to have moral support, but the event is truly about the youth of this community. The event is a fun atmosphere and a place to forget about the real world for an evening. It’s an experience where everyone is focused on the greater good of Montgomery County through the YSB, and the energy is electrifying!”

Stefanie Deaton

Stefanie Deaton works for Title Resource Group as a title examiner. In the evening, she teaches tap, jazz and modern dance at Crawfordsville Academy of Dance, where she has had the pleasure of teaching and choreographing for 25 years.

She has lived in Montgomery County all of her life.

Outside of work, her time is spent with her 3-year-old son, Mitchell, playing with dinosaurs and puzzles, and reading. Her husband, Adam, completes her “wonderful family of three.” Her amazing mom, a.k.a. Nana, takes care of Mitchell while the couple works. Deaton has been a pro dancer in Dancing with the Montgomery County Stars for six years.

She said it is always so good to know that “we are raising money for such a great group of people who are involved in helping the youth of this community.”

The youth are our future, Deaton believes, and she feels that we need to give them every opportunity to become the best people they can become.

“The YSB can do that with the support of this community,” she said, and it’s important for the public to come and support the YSB.

“But if you want to show your love for Skylar and me, we promise to put on a good show for you … you will have to come to the event to see what I have up my sleeve for this year’s performance.”
