The list continues to get more competitive as the March Madness bracket of area senior athletes is now down to 16.
North Montgomery’s Kade Kobel, who was the football player of the year last fall now faces Southmont’s Reese Long, who is a former tennis player of the year.
Crawfordsville’s Peyton Sinnet, who is best remembered for her ability to knock down 3-pointers from anywhere on the floor now faces Southmont’s Mia Myers, who was a lock-down defender for the Mountie girls’ soccer team for four years, and a sprinter and hurdler for the track and field team.
Lauren Kellerman is itching to return to the diamond and chase hit records for Crawfordsivlle, as she now faces North Montgomery’s Jaron Bradford who is hopeful of a track and field season to tune-up for his high jumping career at Wabash College.
Crawfordsville’s Abby Bannon, who has comforted her senior classmates with a recent song, now faces classmate Cale McCarty, who helped lead the Athenians on the gridiron the last four years.
Southmont’s Lexie Odum is without a doubt one of the biggest competitors in the county, and she now faces North Montgomery’s Emily Sennett, who put the Chargers on her back in the girls’ basketball sectional and nearly advanced them to the championship.
Southmont’s Bailey Thompson, who will continue her golf career at St. Mary’s of the Woods next fall now faces North Montgomery’s Drew Webster, who hopes to try his hand at golf this spring.
Drew Glancy’s high school athletic career may be already over, but he now faces Crawfordsville’s Eli Widmer, who is hopeful of a chance to advance in the state tournament in the two-mile run this spring.
And speaking of Crawfordsville distance runners, Madison Fry now faces Southmont’s Lexi Nelson, who will continue her volleyball career at Urbana University next fall.
