Marking Milestones

Mr. and Mrs. Mullendore

Posted

There have been a few student romances that began at Crawfordsville’s middle school throughout the years but only one romance of two teachers has lasted for more than 40 years. Brad and Sue Mullendore celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on June 6.

In July of 1980, Brad Mullendore was helping Don Fine, assistant principal, assemble Tuttle’s first computer when Sue Deur, a newly hired teacher, came in to pick up her classroom key. Don Fine introduced the two teachers. Brad taught mathematics and computer technology and Sue taught Family and Consumer Sciences. Later that same afternoon, Brad stopped by Sue’s apartment to help her move and thus began a romance that led to a loving marriage of 40 years. They were married by Pastor Dale Miller at Crawfordsville’s First United Methodist Church on June 6, 1981.

They are both active in the community since their May 2003 retirement from serving in local schools. Their memberships include Rock Point Church, Montgomery County Retired Teachers Association, Montgomery County Community Foundation, Meals on Wheels Drivers’ Coordinators, Wellbrooke Volunteers and past participants of Wabash Community Friends. They are known for serving “where needed.”

Their family includes son, Nathan Mullendore of Garden City, Minnesota; and daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Luke Miklos of O’Fallon, Missouri. They are the loving and proud grandparents of Liana, Isaac, Ivan and Azalea Miklos.
