Henry Walter Nelson and Bonnie Jean (Carlson) Nelson were married Dec. 24, 1949, at Paxton, Illinois, in the Evangelical Covenant Mission Church.
They have two children, Karla (Darrell) Jackson, Roachdale, and Donald Nelson, Arizona. They are the proud grandparents of Mike (Heather) Jackson, Danville, Indiana, Julie (Chad) Hess, Crawfordsville, Kerri (Kyle) Mehmen, Plainfield, Iowa, and Don Henry (Tiffini) Nelson, Arizona. They also have 12 great-grandchildren: Avery, Cale and Hayden Hess, Alida, Hallie, Lilly and Lucy Jackson, Alison, Jackson and Anna Mehmen, and Elliot and Dominic Nelson.
There will be a private family gathering to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary.
