Fountain Central dropped Friday’s home game 30-22 to Wabash River Conference rival South Vermillion.
The game marked the return of Mustang freshman quarterback Drew Foxworthy who had been sidelined due to an injury. Foxworthy connected on 14-of-19 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns. The young quarterback also rushed for 106 yards and one touchdown.
Senior Dakoda Willoughby added 85 yards on 15 carries for Fountain Central. Willoughby also hauled in four passes for 61 yards.
Ayden Batchelor and Asher Davis each caught touchdown passes.
Foxworthy led the Mustang defense with 10 tackles.
Fountain Central (2-5, 2-3 WRC) will travel to North Vermillion (2-5, 2-3 WRC) on Friday.
The Mustangs kept the game close and trailed just 22-16 entering the final quarter.
Both teams scored in the final period as Fountain Central saw a comeback fall short.
