Coming Friday the long awaited opening of “The Created By … Artisan Gallery” at 301 E. College St. is scheduled.

The neighborhood has witnessed the changes to the exterior of the building on the corner of College and Water streets all summer and now, all will be able to see the renovation that has happened to the interior.

Business owner Sandy Franklin Clark will have “unique, one of a kind, hand-made items” for sale. Many have seen her work at the Farmers Market and Strawberry Festival for the past few years and know of the diversity and creativity of the things she creates. She works in mixed mediums … wood, painting, soft sculpture, macramé, beads, fabric and wall hangings (that have been featured at Athens Arts).

Along with her pieces, the Gallery will be home to her husband Kenn Clark’s photography. Ten years ago he was a feature artist at Athens Arts with his photo project entitled “Reflections of Main … as seen by windel w. asher.” These unique views of downtown can be seen at many locations in Crawfordsville and the surrounding area. His reflections and other photographs have regularly been a part of the Art Walk and he has had a booth at the Strawberry Festival ever since his initial feature in 2012.

Along with their work, they plan to also have items created by other local artisans that work in different mediums than theirs, always staying true to the goal of making it “the place for something unusual.”

Special thanks go out to building owners Mike and Gail Nordenbrock for the many hours of labor and the investment in making this renovation a reality.

Planned business hours are noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
