North Montgomery’s season comes to an end

Posted

RENSSALAER — After an exciting opening round win on Tuesday, North Montgomery could find no offense on Wednesday. The Chargers lost to rival Western Boone 11-1 in six innings.

North Montgomery recorded just three hits in the game. Senior Ella McManomy, who missed Tuesday’s game due to her participation in the track and field regional, had a triple in the second inning and later scored on a sacrifice by senior Hope Delp. The run made the score 2-1 but that would be North’s only run in the game.

Western Boone had 12 hits and scored in five of their six at-bats. Seven Charger errors aided the Stars’ scoring.

North Montgomery freshman pitcher Mary Kate Patterson allowed 11 runs, eight of which were earned.

The Stars and Chargers played three games this season and Western Boone won all three by the 10-run rule.

North Montgomery concludes its season with an 8-16 record.

Seniors playing in their last game were McManomy, Delp and Erica Newkirk.

The Chargers have an opportunity to have 25 returning players in the program next season, including their top three pitchers.

Western Boone (18-7) played Seeger (17-11) in Thursday’s championship. The Patriots defeated Delphi 8-1 to reach the finals.
