Longtime health department employee Adrianne Northcutt will take over as county health administrator on Sept. 8.

The applicant review and interview team, made up of Montgomgery County Health Board president Nancy Sennett, vice president Jamie Barton and Health Officer Dr. Scott Douglas unanimously approved Northcutt’s career shift Aug. 18. Northcutt had been serving as the environmental health specialist for the department.

Douglas said the county received more than 20 applications for the position after Amber Reed notified them of her intention to leave the position. Reed has accepted a position with the Crawfordsville Community School Corporation and will serve as director of food service and student wellness.

“We’re excited to continue the work of this department with Adrianne at the lead,” Douglas said. “She is passionate about public health and her community. She has 14 years public health experience which includes becoming the second department to become Nationally Accredited in the state and a global pandemic.

Northcutt is a lifelong resident of Montgomery County; is married with five grown children and 13 grandchildren. Her husband Greg and son Isaac are also employed by the county.

Northcutt has been with the department since 2008 when she began as a septic inspector.  In 2010 she moved into the food inspector position where she remained until her recent appointment. In addition to food inspections, Northcutt handled public swimming pool inspections and operator compliance; home inspections due to public health concerns; served as safety section chief for public health preparedness.
