Pastor Roe to retire from Faith Baptist

Posted

Faith Baptist Church will begin revival meetings Sunday with Evangelist Terry Danford and his family ministering to the church. Danford’s family will bring special music doing instrumentals and singing.

Danford will be preaching sound Bible messages. Sunday’s schedule will include Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. and morning worship at 10:30 a.m. followed by a pitch-in dinner. After dinner there will be a special service in which Pastor Tony Roe will step aside and Keith Harris will become the pastor. Meetings will continue with the Danfords at 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

At the special afternoon service, Roe will celebrate his 27 years as pastor of Faith Baptist Church. He is a native of Montgomery County, graduating from New Market High School in 1965. He and his wife, Susan graduated from Baptist Bible College in 1971 at Springfield, Missouri, and were married a week later at Enid, Oklahoma. Later that same year they moved to Enfield, Connecticut, where they worked on the church staff and taught in their Christian School for 12 years.

They then moved them to Fairfax, Virginia, where they again worked on the church staff and taught in their Christian School. In 1990, Roe became pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Stratford, Texas. In late September of 1995 they back to Montgomery County where Roe has pastored the Faith Baptist Church for the past 27 years.

Harris has worked alongside Roe as assistant pastor for the past two and a half years. He worked long distance, commuting from the east side of Indianapolis on the weekends. Then in August 2021 his family bought a house and moved to Crawfordsville. Harris and his wife, Barbara, have four children, Mia, Paul, Annie and Andrew.

They are graduates of Heartland Baptist Bible College. After graduating they did their internship at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lawrence. Then they were missionaries to Scotland until they had to return to the states because of visa issues. They have been faithful members at Cornerstone Baptist from then until they came to work with Faith Baptist. The members of Faith Baptist extended the call to Harris to be their pastor this past August and look forward to a long and loving relationship.

The public is invited to all the services anytime, but especially during the revival with the Danfords. The church is at 5113 S. C.R. 200W, Crawfordsville, or just five miles south of Crawfordsville on State Road 47.
