Police: Teens responsible for soaping fountain

Teenagers were responsible for soaping the fountain at Marie Canine Plaza last week, according to police.

Crawfordsville Police spoke with three people in their late-teens hours after the vandalism was discovered Friday, Chief Mike Norman said.

A security camera captured a trio pouring dish soap into the fountain and leaving the plaza in the wee hours of the morning. The group was seen returning a short time later, Norman said.

The case was forwarded to the Montgomery County Probation Department.

The fountain needs a new pump and there will be additional expenses for cleaning up residue, said Sue Lucas, project manager of Crawfordsville Main Street, which maintains the plaza.

Total cost of the damage is $500, Lucas said. The fountain has been shut down for the season.
