BASEBALL

Chargers lose again

North Montgomery traveled Thursday to Danville and lost 7-2. Danville scored five runs in the second inning.

The Charger offense was stagnant and only had five hits.

T.J. Hinds was 3-for-3 with an RBI.

Carter Thompson took the loss on the mound. The sophomore pitched four innings and gave up six runs while striking out six and walking five.

Charger Lucky Young pitched two innings and gave up two runs.

Ethan Wooten led Danville by going 3-for-4 at the plate. Wooten will play on Byron Cox Post 72 this season.

Charger Coach Matt Voorhees took the opportunity to rest Charger Aiden Ambriz-Cruz who has started and played every inning this season.

 

Hot Dogs beat Athenians in extra innings

For the second time this week, Frankfort defeated visiting Crawfordsville 7-6 in 11 innings. On Wednesday, Frankfort defeated the Athenians 4-2 in 12 innings.

Crawfordsville jumped out to a 5-0 lead after four and one-half innings. But Frankfort scored two in the bottom half of the fourth and tacked on three runs in fifth inning.

Jayden Jiminez relieved Athenian starter Landon Gerold in the fifth inning and pitched effectively for 6.1 innings but ended up taking the loss.

Frankfort stayed alive by tying the game with one run in the bottom of the seventh. The Hot Dogs got the one out walk off win when Athenian pitcher Jacob Lee hit a Frankfort batter forcing in the winning run.

Crawfordsville (12-12, 7-7 MAC) traveled Friday to Tri-West (13-10) and will play at home against McCutcheon (15-8) at 11 a.m. Monday. Frankfort (15-9, 7-7 MAC) and Crawfordsville will battle again at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Crawfordsville 3A Sectional.

 

Mustangs blow by Wolves

Fountain Central traveled Thursday to Wabash River Conference rival Parke Heritage. The Mustang won 15-2 and out hit the Wolves 12-5.

Fountain Central (6-13, 6-8 WRC) will play host to Greencastle (19-4) at 11 a.m. Monday before playing Faith Christian at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Parke Heritage 1A Sectional.

 

SOFTBALL

FC falls to Wolves

Fountain Central played Parke Heritage at home Thursday. The Wolves beat the Mustangs 6-3.

Fountain Central’s Patience Bixler led the Mustang at the plate by going 3-for-4 and scoring two runs. Kiger was 2-for-3.

Parke Heritage scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead 6-3.

Fountain Central (9-13, 5-9 WRC) will open 1A sectional play on Tuesday against Riverton Parke  17-8, 12-0 WRC) at Riverton Parke. Parke Heritage will play Monday in the 2A Greencastle Sectional at 12:30 p.m. Monday against South Putnam (9-7).

 

GOLF

Cville beats Jeff

Crawfordsville defeated Lafayette Jeff 166-197 to improve their record to 9-4.

Crawfordsville by medalist Colton Custer and Jordan Archer who each shot a 41. Owen Pierce and Jude Hurt each shot a 42 and Caiden Murray carded a 43.
