GIRLS SOCCER

Athenians beat Bethesda

Crawfordsville defeated Bethesda Christian 5-2 on Thursday.

Inga Freeze scored four goals and Alea Seward added one goal.

“Shout out to Alea for just having a great game,” Athenian coach Brandon Rash said. “Our defense was great too.”

Crawfordsville (5-2-1) will play Saturday at Danville (6-2).

 

Chargers swat Hornets

North Montgomery traveled to and defeated Rossville 9-3 on Thursday.

The Chargers led 4-3 at the half, and scored five unanswered goals in the second half.

Seven Chargers scored eight goals in the match led by Genesis Reyes’ two goals. Other North Montgomery players scoring were Olivia Nuppnau, Savannah Ratcliff, Colee Cunningham, Gracie Ratcliff, Katie Whittinghill and Courtney Bennett. The ninth goal was an own goal by Rossville.

Gracie Ratcliff had three assists and Ava Leader added two assists. Addison Johnson recorded six saves.

North Montgomery (6-3) will play at 10a.m. Saturday at Northview (0-8).

 

Tiger Cubs beat Mounties

Greencastle played host Thursday to Southmont and won 1-0.

A first-half goal by Greencastle was the difference in the game.

Southmont 5-2-1 will play at 6 p.m. Tuesday at West Vigo (4-3) .

 

BOYS SOCCER

Cville beats Frankfort

Crawfordsville defeated MAC foe Frankfort 4-0 on Thursday.

No Athenian player results were reported.

Crawfordsville (8-1, 4-1 MAC) will play Monday at Benton Central.

 

GOLF

Mounties win four-way

Southmont traveled to Rivercrest Golf Club in Covington for a four-way meet with Seeger, Attica and Fountain Central. The Lady Mounties won the match shooting 206.

Seeger followed with 210, Attica 229 and Fountain Central was incomplete.

Leading the way for the Mounties was Emma Gleason’s 49. Other Mountie scores were Kaycee Perez 51, Addison Kendricks 52 and Lanie Ramsey 54.

Fountain Central’s Bella Bacon shot a personal best 46 and Lilly Gregory carded a 54.

The Mounties will participate Saturday in the Monon Athletic Conference Championship at the Crawfordsville Country Club.

 

Athenians split three-way

Crawfordsville shot a season best 231 to split a 3-way meet with Northview and Greencastle.

Northview shot a 197. Greencastle carded a 270.

Athenian scores were Clair Dennison 50, Naomi Sermesheim 56, Samiyyah Hamilton 60 and Serenity Wright 65.

Crawfordsville will play in today’s Monon Athletic Conference Tournament at Crawfordsville County Club.

 

TENNIS

Mustangs second in invitational

The Fountain Central Invitational, which was postponed from Saturday due to the heat, was concluded on Thursday.

The Mustangs finished in second place, 12 points behind Lafayette Central Catholic’s 15 points. West Vigo finished third with seven points and South Putnam tallied one point for fourth point.

Mustang Ayden Batchelor was the No. 1 singles champion and William Armstrong was the No. 2 singles champion.

Fountain Central travels Saturday to Seeger for an invitational.

 

Mounties drop match to Eagles

South Putnam defeated Southmont 3-2 on Thursday.

The Mounties had wins at No. 1 singles Eden Hernandez who beat Aiden Brinkman 6-1, 6-1. No. 2 singles Ethan Hutchison defeated Robert Emmerich 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.

South’s No. 3 singles Mason Clouse lost 0-6, 1-6.

Southmont’s No. 1 doubles team of Andrew Badertcher and Ben Gruele lost 2-6, 4-6 and the No. 2 doubles team of Job Bradley and Owen Grimes lost 1-6, 3-6.

The Mounties will play at home Monday against South Vermillion.

 

Chargers shut out by Greencastle

North Montgomery traveled Thursday to Greencastle and lost 0-5.

Chargers No. 1 single Carter Thompson lost to Gavin Tyson 4-6, 2-6 and No. 2 singles Elliott Allen lost to Griffin Beasley 3-6, 2-6. No. 3 singles Cash Cole lost to Dylan Waught 2-6, 6-2, 1-6.

The Chargers No. 1 doubles team of Piersyn Joyce and Kohen Bonebrake lost 1-6, 1-6. The No. 2 doubles team of Owen DeSmet and Kaden Grundy lost to Harvey Cummings and Jonah Horvath 2-6, 3-6.

North Montgomery will play today at Lebanon.

 

VOLLEYBALL

Mounties beat Fountain Central

Southmont defeated Fountain Central 3-1 on Thursday on the Mustangs’ home court.

Mountie Ella Barry had 11 kills and 31 digs. Kaylee Turner had three aces and 19 digs. Mylee Mallone had 27 saves.

It was the first home loss of the season for the Mustangs.

Fountain Central will travel Saturday to the Clinton Prairie Invitational.

Southmont (4-6) will play host Monday to Cloverdale (4-6). Fountain Central (3-4) play Saturday at the Shakamak Invitational.

 

Red Devils defeat Athenians

Home standing West Lafayette defeated Crawfordsville in straight sets on Thursday.

Set scores were 9-25, 11-25 and 4-25.

No Athenian player statistics were reported.

Crawfordsville (6-6) will travel Saturday to West Vigo (0-8).
