Chargers win tourney

North Montgomery played Saturday in the Seeger Invitational. Two wins gave the Chargers the championship.

North Montgomery started the day with a 2-0 win over the host Patriots. Score were 25-15, 25-22.

Mallory Denham had five kills and Kate Merica had 15 assists. Kendall Barnett had four aces and 10 digs.

In the championship game, Armstrong, Illinois entered the contest with an 11-4 record.

North Montgomery won with set scores of 18-25, 25-23, 15-8.

Denham had seven kills. Kate Merica recorded four kills and 17 assists.

North Montgomery (8-8, 0-5 MAC) played Monday at Cloverdale (6-10) and will play at home Tuesday against North Putnam (10-8, 1-2 MAC) in a Monon Athletic Conference battle.

 

Mustangs win invite

Fountain Central won the championship of the Bethesda Christian Invitational. The Mustangs beat the host 2-0 and Horizon Christian 2-0.

The Mustangs beat Bethesda 25-17, 25-13. In the championship match set scores were 25-13, 25-14.

Fountain Central (7-8) will next play Monday at Frontier.

 

Athenians split at Ben Davis

Southmont went 1-1 on Saturday in the Cardinal Ritter Invitational. The Mounties got wins against Ben Davis but lost to Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter.

In the game against Ben Davis set scores were 25-15, 23-25, 15-10.

Reese Price had 21 kills in game one and added 17 more kills against Ritter.

Crawfordsville (13-9, 2-2 MAC) will play Tuesday at MAC and county rival Southmont (7-8, 2-4).

 

Mounties go 0-2 at tourney

Southmont was not able to get a win in Saturday’s invitational at Terre Haute.

The Mounties lost to Terre Haute North 2-0 with set scores of 14-25, 22-25.

In the second game, Southmont lost to Barr Reeve 2-1. Set scores were 12-25, 25-19, 12-15.

Mountie Ella Barry led the Mounties with 25 kills in two games. Claire Peacock recorded a total of 30 assists with three aces.

Southmont (7-8, 2-4 MAC) will play host Tuesday to county rival Crawfordsville (13-9, 2-2 MAC) for the county championship.

 

BOYS SOCCER

Athenians beat Northview

Crawfordsville traveled Saturday to Brazil and defeated Northview 5-2.

Athenians Dylan Figueroa and David Estrada each had two goals. Dario Huesco added one score.

Crawfordsville led 3-1 at the half.

The Athenians (11-1, 5-1 MAC) played Monday at home against McCutcheon (8-3-1). They will play host Wednesday against North Montgomery (5-6-1, 2-3 MAC) for the county championship.

 

Mounties lose to Bison

Southmont lost 2-1 to Benton Central on Saturday.

All the scoring came in the second half.

Southmont did not report player statistics.

The Mounties (3-8) will travel to West Vigo (5-6-1) on Thursday.

 

GIRLS SOCCER

CHS wins at Northview

Crawfordsville won 4-1 on the road at Northview on Saturday.

The Athenians used three second half goals to gain the victory.

Crawfordsville had goals by Inga Freeze with two. Alyvia Wilhoite scored one goal as did Alea Seward.

Goalkeeper Madison Martin had six saves.

Crawfordsville (7-4-1, 4-0 MAC) will play Tuesday at Southmont (6-3, 4-1 MAC).

 

Mounties drop game to Bison

Southmont entertained Benton Central on Saturday and lost 2-1.

Mountie Calista Hale scored the lone Mountie goal.

Southmont (6-3-1, 4-1 MAC) will play host Tuesday to Crawfordsville (7-4-1, 4-0 MAC).
