Chargers down Danville

North Montgomery defeated Danville 3-2 on the Chargers’ home courts on Monday.

With North’s No. 1 singles player Carter Thompson sidelined, the Chargers had to mix up the lineup for the match.

All three singles players were victorious for North Montgomery

No. 1 Piersyn Joyce defeated Colby Brooks 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-3. No.2 singles Elliott Allen beat Grant Speheger 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 and No. 3 singles Cash Cole beat Sam McRoberts 6-1, 6-2.

The Chargers No. 1 doubles team of Korbin Lewis and Kaden Grundy lost to Oliver Riggs and Liam Stierwalt 6-1, 6-1 and No. 2 doubles of Kohen Bonebrake and Owen DeSmet lost to Carter Darks and Lukas Woodruff 6-2, 7-6(1).

The Chargers played at Covington on Tuesday and will play Thursday at Attica.

 

MAC tennis tourney results posted

Rain delayed the Monon Athletic Conference Tennis Tournament at Crawfordsville from Saturday to Monday. The tourney includes a doubles and singles tourney.

On Monday, the Crawfordsville No. 1 doubles team of Jayden Jimenez and Andrew McCoy won the doubles tourney. The duo had to win three matches to claim the crown. They defeated Greencastle’s Silas Hartnett and Carter McDorman 6-4, 6-1 for the championship.

The singles championship match will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at CHS. It will feature Crawfordsville’s Henry Bannon battling Gavin Tyson of Greencastle.

North Montgomery’s Carter Thompson won fifth place with a 4-6, 6-4, 10-4 win over Western Boone’s Easton Nance.

The top six singles players and top two doubles teams will be named to the All-Monon Athletic Conference team.

 

BOYS SOCCER

Mavs defeat Athenians

Crawfordsville lost just its second match of the season Monday at McCutcheon. The Mavericks won 4-2.

Scoring for the Athenians were Jared Moreno and Dylan Figueroa. Earning one assist apiece were Adrian Munoz and Eduardo Cesar-Hernandez.

Crawfordsville (11-2, 5-1 MAC) will play host Wednesday to county rival North Montgomery (5-7-1, 2-4 MAC).

 

Cadets down Chargers

North Montgomery was shut out 5-0 on Monday at home against Monon Athletic Conference foe Cascade (7-4, 4-2 MAC).

Charger coaches provided no player statistics.

The Chargers (5-7-1, 2-4 MAC) will play at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Crawfordsville (11-2, 5-1 MAC).

 

GIRLS SOCCER

North beats Cascade

North Montgomery won 4-1 on Monday at Monon Athletic Conference foe Cascade.

The Chargers led 3-1 at halftime.

Scoring for North were Katie Whittinghill with two goals. Genesis Reyes and Olivia Nuppnau each added one goal.

North Montgomery (8-4, 3-3 MAC) will host Greenwood Christian Academy (6-3) on Thursday.
