Athenians win at FC
Crawfordsville played Thursday at Fountain Central and won 3-0.
Set scores were 25-17, 25-18, 25-18.
Athenian Reese Price had nine kills and four blocks. Olivia Jett and Jade Brattain each had five aces.
Crawfordsville’s Alexis Ratcliff recorded 29 digs and Sydney Elizondo had 24 assists.
Fountain Central did not report player statistics.
Crawfordsville (14-10, 2-3 MAC) will play Tuesday at Western Boone (5-21, 3-2). Fountain Central (11-9) will be at Frontier on Monday.
GIRLS SOCCER
Sheridan defeats South
Sheridan scored the game’s only goal in the second half to beat the Mounties 1-0 on Thursday.
Southmont reported no statistics from the game.
The Mounties (6-5-1) will play host Saturday to South Vermillion (0-10).
Chargers tie Greenwood
North Montgomery (8-4-1) and Greenwood Christian (6-4-1) played to a 1-1 tie on Thursday on the Chargers’ pitch. Both goals were scored in the first half.
North’s Courtney Bennett scored on a rebound off the Greenwood goalie.
The Chargers will play host at 10 a.m. Saturday to Covington.
TENNIS
Mounties fall to Tigers
Southmont dropped Thursday’s match to Lebanon 3-2.
At No. 1 singles Mountie Eden Hernandez was defeated 1-6, 5-7 by Brayden Adams. At No. 2 singles South’s Ethan Hutchison beat Simon Ryker 6-4, 6-2.
At No. 3 singles Mountie Mason Clouse won over Kai Burchman 6-2, 7-5.
In doubles action, Lebanon’s No. 1 doubles Jason Garrard and Leo Johnson beat Andrew Badertcher and Ben Gruele 6-0, 6-0. In the No. 2 match the Tigers David Havlin and Josh Gulley beat Job Bradley and Owen Grimes 5-7, 6-1, 6-0.
Southmont awaits the IHSAA Sectional draw on Sunday. The tourney is scheduled to begin Tuesday at Crawfordsville.
CHS defeats Bronchos
Crawfordsville beat Lafayette Jefferson 5-0 on Thursday to finish the season with a 13-4 record.
Crawfordsville No. 1 singles Henry Bannon defeated Christian Medrano 6-0, 6-0. No. 2 singles Jordan Archer beat Levi Colby 6-0, 6-1 and No. 3 singles Kent Calvert beat Brekon Myers 5-6, 8-6, 10-8.
Athenian No. 1 doubles Jayden Jimenez and Andrew McCoy defeated Ian Franklin and Keenan Robertson 6-0, 6-3. In No. 2 doubles Ethan Campbell and Jack Miles beat Alex Garcia and Gaspard Effroy 6-0, 6-1.
Crawfordsville will play host to the sectional beginning Tuesday.
Chargers win at Attica
North Montgomery traveled Thursday to Attica and won 4-1.
Chargers recording wins were No. 2 singles Elliott Allen over Blake Inman 6-2, 6-4 and No. 3 singles Cash Cole over Cullen Driver 6-0, 6-0.
North’s doubles teams both won. No. 1 doubles Korbin Lewis and Kohen Bonebrake beat Joe Shoaf and Micah Pawlak 6-3, 6-1 and No. 2 doubles Owen DeSmet and Kaden Guard beat Aydin Britt and Eli Lathrop 6-0, 6-1.
The win gives North a 9-9 record heading into the Crawfordsville IHSAA Sectional on Tuesday.
Tiger Cubs beat FC
Greencastle beat Fountain Central 5-0 on Thursday.
At No. 1 singles Gavin Tyson beat Ayden Batchelor 6-4, 6-3. At No. 2 singles Greffin Beasley defeated Hayden Hargrave 6-4, 6-2 and at No. 3 singles Dylan Waugh beat David Current 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 1 doubles Liam Grimes and Cayden Scott defeated Aidan Blankenship and Eli Sowder 6-0, 6-2. At No. 2 doubles Harvey Cummings and Jonah Horvath beat Preston Coakley and Jerimiah Morris 6-0, 6-1.
The Mustangs completed the regular season 6-7. They will play at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Wabash River Conference tournament at Fountain Central.
