Prom dress donations accepted

Hoosier Heartland State Bank and Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau are partnering up for a Prom Dress Drive.

This annual event was started by HHSB in 2020, with the goal of ensuring every student has the opportunity to attend prom with no financial barriers. Previously invite-only, the event soon became open to the public due to a surplus of inventory.

Now, anyone in need can receive a prom dress free of charge.

“Prom is an important milestone for teens and can be expensive,” said Sheri Thompson, special projects analyst at HHSB, “and we don’t want anyone to miss out on the experience due to cost.”

Gently used prom dresses can be dropped off at either of HHSB’s Crawfordsville locations until Jan. 31. Donations of shoes and jewelry are also accepted.

The donations are distributed through a giveaway event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 21 at HHSB’s Success Center, 1623 S. U.S. 231.

There are no eligibility requirements to receive a dress. Students can attend the event and select a dress and accessories at no cost, they simply have to show up at the scheduled hours.
