Robert Earl White Sr. ran his earthly race and crossed the finish line going home to be with his Lord on Friday, April 9, 2021.

Born March 2, 1937, at Glasgow, Kentucky, to David and Jeppie White, he was blessed to be a part of a large blended family with four half-brothers and two half-sisters, and one younger brother, David Samuel White.

Robert and Ruthanna Dye began dating on March 4, 1956, and never let go of each other! They were married on June 22, 1958, and had three children, Robert Earl Jr. (Carol) White, Roxanna Elaine (Kent) Roach and Renee DeeAnn (Steve) Cooper. The years have been filled with the energy and laughter of 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Robert graduate from Darlington High School. He never went without work for very long and did many different jobs: Farming; owning a laundromat, and Whitey’s Family Restaurant; running a small engine repair shop; driving a semi over the road; being a guard at Nucor; working at the Whitesville Mill, and Ladoga Children’s Home; plus driving a school bus. He also served in the Indiana National Guard for eight years, and was a part of the Indiana Freemasons, Lodge #50. His favorite job, and his dream, was to be a police officer, which he did! He served on the Crawfordsville Police Force and retired as a sergeant. Along with working very hard his entire life, he loved spending time with friends and family.  He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing, boating, traveling in the RV, flying his airplane and taking others flying with him. Robert gave God the credit for allowing him to do all the jobs and activities that he wanted to do during his 84 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; grandchildren; and great grandchildren; as well as his younger brother.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his four half-brothers; and two half-sisters.

All are invited to celebrate Robert’s life with his family on Wednesday, April 21. Visitation will be 4-5 p.m. and the memorial service will follow at 5 p.m. at Whitesville Christian Church, 3603 S. Ladoga Road, Crawfordsville.

Any memorials may be given in honor of Robert to Whiteville Christian Church. Burkhart Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
