Mustangs fall on road to Patriots

Fountain Central was back on the road Tuesday to take on an always tough WRC foe in the Seeger Patriots. A slow start doomed the Mustangs as they would fall 55-13, scoring just two points in the first quarter.

Larissa Bowers led Fountain Central in scoring with six points and Jerzi Hershberger snagged four rebounds and dished out four assists. Hannah Prickett added five points and Rylee Simko scored two for the Mustangs who fall to 3-7 (0-1 WRC).

Fountain Central is back in action Thursday as they travel to North Vermillion

Wrestling

Mounties stay unbeaten vs Cougars

The Southmont wrestling team coming off a perfect 5-0 record at the WeBo duals over the weekend was back in action as they hosted North Putnam. The Mounties put together another solid performance, winning the match 54-29 to stay unbeaten at 7-0 on the season.

Brier Riggle (106), Thomas Woods (113), Noah Benge (120), Maddox Cade (132), Gerald Hutson (138), Marlin Williams (145), Wyatt Woodall (195), Collin Martin (220), and Zayden Dunn (Hwt) all were victorious for the Mounties.

Southmont will compete in the Calumet Duals on Saturday.

Swimming & Diving

Athenians split with Lebanon

Crawfordsville hosted a Sagamore conference foe in Lebanon on Tuesday and ended up with a split with the Tigers in the meet.

The Athenian boys were victorious 99-84 while the girls fell 101-81.

While the Lady Athenians did win 9 of the 12 events, they were shorthanded with just nine swimmers being able to compete

The boys were won 10 out of the 12 events to stay unbeaten on the season.

Crawfordsville will travel to Harrison on Thursday night.

Mounties sweep ‘Dogs

Southmont hosted the Hotdogs of Frankfort Tuesday evening and were able to come away with a sweep winning on the boys side 82-68 and 138-44 on the girls.

Bailey Barker, Marley Jones and Adri Smith all won two events for the Lady Mounties. Paige Smith, Sami Mooday, and Faith Allen also took home wins for the girls.

Over on the boys side Trent Jones and Logan Harman won multiple events. Aaron Evans, Hunter Gray, and Clay Allen each were victorious as well.

The Mounties will host Greencastle on Thursday.

Chargers split meet with Bison

North Montgomery hosted Benton Central as the Chargers and Bison would split the meet on Tuesday.

The North Montgomery girls would come away with a 102-63 win, while the boys were defeated 103-64.

On the girls side Maggie Michael and Annabel Anderson each won two events for the Chargers. Brooklyn Kerns also came away with a win in the 100 freestyle. Alex Wray, Jameson Burget, and Avery Wright were all winners on the boys side for North Montgomery.

The Chargers will hit the road on Thursday as they’ll take on Sagamore Conference rival Tri-West.
