TASTE to feature three popular musical acts

Posted

The General Lew Wallace Study & Museum is pleased to announce the musical line-up for the 2026 TASTE of Montgomery County being held noon to 9 p.m. Aug. 22.

Taking the stage at 1 p.m., Mark Stansbury is an Indiana-based country music artist known for performing live shows and holiday music events across the state. Stansbury’s shows blend classic country hits with a warm, engaging stage presence, making him a popular choice for community events such as the TASTE. His performances are described as family-friendly, appealing to both longtime country fans and newcomers. Stansbury grew up on the south side of Indianapolis.

His mother said he was singing Elvis in his crib. He started playing guitar at age 13 but admits he was terrible. He sang in the glee club in high school where his teacher encouraged him. His wife bought him a nice guitar and he started playing again. Stansbury claims he would rather pick and play than eat. And he says he eats pretty well. He plays classic rock, country and lately he’s been writing his own material.

The Big Swing Band returns to the Taste with their 18-piece Big Band with vocalists. They will be taking the stage 4-6 p.m. They focus on music of the Swing Era, performing the works of notable artists such as: Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Glen Miller and many more.

The Big Swing Band began its journey in 1999 as a rehearsal group under the direction of drummer Paul Kenny. It didn’t take them long to find an audience for their outstanding renditions of some of the best music from the 1920s through the 1950s. The Big Swing Band is committed to providing the best of Big Band entertainment — and they deliver. Find them at www.bigswingbandlafayette.com or Follow on Facebook @thebigswingbandlafayette or Instagram @bigswingband/.

Finishing up the evening will be the outstanding Common Ground. Established in 2005 by talented and professional entertainers for the sole purpose of making the listening and dancing experience fun and enjoyable. They provide a night of quality music that is entertaining and just plain fun to listen to. They are a band that plays everything from classic rock to country to today’s top hits and everything in between! With female vocalists, sax, guitar, bass, and drums they bring the hits you know and love — spanning the 1960s through today. High-energy, feel-good music that keeps every generation singing along.
