One of the most unique cross country meets took place Friday in Terre Haute. The event, XC Town Twilight Run sponsored by Nike, brings middle school and high school cross country runners from throughout the nation.
The Indiana State University home course is the same the NCAA national championship will be run later this season.
Crawfordsville’s Josh Inskeep had the best result for area teams. The senior placed 46th with a personal best time of 16:39.
North Montgomery’s Drew Dark (16:50) placed 76th.
There were 903 high school boy runners competing in four separate races beginning at 7:15 p.m.
Crawfordsville coach Jared McMurry reported five of his boy runners recorded either season and/or personal bests.
Athenian girls recorded six season and/or personal bests. Alea Seward (20:48) placed 72nd leading the area teams.
Southmont’s Hayleigh Boots (21:06) finished in 107th place and North Montgomery’s Sarah Hopper (21:20) placed 133rd.
There were 674 high school girls combined in three girls’ races which started at 6:15 p.m.
