The city warned drivers that rail crossings could be blocked for a third straight morning Friday as CSX Transportation makes operational changes.
CSX is changing which train does switching work in Crawfordsville, the city said in a Facebook post. The change will take effect Saturday and should prevent trains from blocking traffic.
Drivers were forced to detour around the crossings on Market, Main and Elmore streets on Wednesday and Thursday morning. Police were stationed at intersections directing traffic. The city referred complaints to CSX.
CSX reached an agreement with the city and the Indiana Department of Transportation earlier this week to delay closing the Market Street crossing for maintenance until traffic can be detoured onto Wabash Avenue.
A section of East Wabash is currently closed for construction.
