Sigma Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa met for a regular meeting May 19 at the Ladoga Christian Church. President Judy Goshorn called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Prior to the business meeting President Goshorn led the pledge service for Melissa Coffey Taylor and Taylor Davis Norton
Letters requesting inactive status from Sheila Rhoads and Sharon Morrison were read. Both requests were accepted.
Vice President Sarah Hough reported that the yard sale went well. Mountie Mission took items from what was left over and the rest was given to a church having a yard sale the next weekend. All the proceeds from the sale are used for Southmont scholarships.
The winner of the Edith Strickler Scholarship was Brooklynn Benson and the Ladoga Tri Kappa Scholarship was awarded to Savanna Chesser at Southmont’s award night. Jerilyn Mitchell will present the “I Can” award at the Southmont Middle School. Ladoga Elementary awards were presented earlier.
Astrid Rabeyrin, Ladoga Summer Lunch program coordinator, had requested donations/assistance for food for the food insecure children in Ladoga from June 1 through July 27 on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Approximately 20-30 children will be served between 11 a.m. to noon on those days. The chapter donated $120 to feed 30 children.
The chapter will again serve lunch to the workers at Mountie Mission during its back to school distribution. Details will be given later.
Hough reminded members to support the Riley Cheer Guild. She is planning an informal meeting at her home with the chapter members and the pledges to discuss Tri Kappa’s history, purpose, etc. The date will be announced later.
The next meeting is a dinner meeting June 16. Time and place will be announced later.
