Over 30,000 people annually compete in the Indianapolis Mini Marathon, making it the largest half-marathon in the United States. The race traditionally kicks off the month of May as an official 500 festival event, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many runners took to a virtual race in 2020. Marc Welch, who typically trains with fellow Wabash College colleague Steve Hoffman, finished his race on Saturday afternoon, and finished at the arch at Wabash, which he thought was appropriate, because it’s bad luck for Wabash students to walk under the arch until graduation, and the seniors have also had to finish their time at Wabash in a virtual capacity.
