VOLLEYBALL: Athenians, Mounties pick up wins

Athenians sweep Hot Dogs

The Crawfordsville volleyball team swept Frankfort 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 25-16).

Laine Schlicher had 26 assists, four kills, six digs and an ace, while Hallie Gayler had six kills, an assist and two digs. Macy Bruton added 28 kills, 18 digs and an ace. Shea Williamson had 12 assists, 11 digs, and three kills. 

Olivia Reed had 17 digs and an ace, while Allyson Barton had six digs and four aces, while Liddy McCarty had three digs, two kills and a block. 

Crawfordsville is now 22-3 and plays Covington on Thursday. 

Mounties sweep Patriots

The Southmont volleyball team defeated Seeger 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-18) on Tuesday.

Kaley Remley led the Mounties with 13 digs and eight kills, while Sidney Veatch had 11 assists, 10 kills and two blocks, and Chelsea Veatch had 13 assists and 10 digs.

Natalie Manion had 12 digs, Reagan Remley six kills, and Makia Pierce had five aces and two blocks.

"I think we have really been working on and focusing on trying to focus for an entire match and an entire set, and not losing points especially in a close match like tonight," Southmont coach Lauran Nichols said. "I think that speaks to the fact that we are getting better at that."

Mustangs swept by Cougars

The Fountain Central volleyball team dropped a non-conference match 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-14) on Monday.
